An escape game is an immersive recreational activity built around a well-thought-out scenario. The aim? Escape from a location by solving a series of enigmas and collecting clues within a given timeframe. In this life-size game, participants are usually locked in a themed room with enchanting decor. <\/span><\/p>\n

For the past fifteen years, escape rooms<\/strong> have been invading cities, offering games where you have to lock yourself in a room to get out. More and more escape games are being offered as team-building<\/strong> activities, but the concept has a number of limitations, such as the fact that you can’t often play with more than 6 people, or that you have to play in several rooms, which isn’t optimal for a shared experience between employees. What’s more, the duration is often limited to one hour, and as the rooms are expensive, their decor does not change frequently. It’s also impossible to move an escape room to a seminar venue!

The origins of this life-size form of entertainment lie in video games. In other words, escape rooms as we know them today are a physical version of escape video games. The first of these, Crimson Room, was designed in 2003 by Toshimitsu Takagi of Japan. In 2007, Takao Kato drew inspiration from his compatriot to invent the first real-life escape game. He opened Live Rooms Escape, a concept that spread throughout Asia, before reaching Europe and the United States. In France, the concept arrived in Paris in 2013 and spread like wildfire across the country. It was a resounding success.
